Cast of Characters


MARVIN THE MAGNIFICIENT
aka MERWIN THE MALCONTENT- magician and entertainer. Male. A showman, he can moonwalk and do the James Brown slide while rapping his way into deals where he is the only winner.  Ego driven, he is only interested in how he can use others to get what he wants: fame.  Can be played by teen to young adult who can rap and dance.          

SPEAKHER- Dancing MP3 speaker. Female. Loves what she does and has ambitions of amplifying music in large venues which is how she got hooked up with Marvin. She has a big heart and does not enjoy hurting innocent people.  She regrets her role in Marvin's scheming but tries to make the best of it since she doesn't feel she has much of a choice. Can be played by a teen to young adult who can dance.

SPEAKHIM- Dancing MP3 speaker. Male. Also has ambitions of making a name for himself. He feels double-crossed by Marvin but doesn't think he has a way out without doing what Marvin says. Can be played by a teen to young adult who can dance.

MARIPOSA- 12 years old, mayor’s daughter. Female. Intelligent, determined, and unafraid. She challenges her father and disobeys him to do what she feels is right. Her strong will and desire to save her brother allow her to discover her own true power within herself. Must look the part of a 12-year-old, sing, and dance.

OWEN THEODORE CRUMB aka O.T.C. - Ex-champion professional wrestler and Oatmeal Raisin Cookie.  Male. He uses a cane and lives on memories of what he used to be in the ring until Mariposa gives him a new cause.  By helping her save her brother and the other children, he helps himself remember that true strength lies within. Can be played by young to older adult who sings.

BUGSBY BRAMBLETHORN-  Mayor of Milele Baada Ya. An arrogant, self-serving politician whose deceitful practices backfire on him when the town loses its children. He still clings to his power by belittling everyone else around him. Can be played by young to older adult who sings and dances.

YES MAN #1- city councilman or woman. Energetic and eager to please the mayor in order to stay employed and climb the political ladder.  Will forcefully go whatever way the mayor wants whether it is right or wrong. Can be played by teen to young adult.

YES MAN # 2 – city councilman or woman. Same description as #1. Can be played by teen to young adult.

YES MAN # 3 – city councilman or woman. Same description as #1.  Can be played by teen to young adult.

O’ FEEL YA CLAWS-  Pussycat and Martial Arts expert. Female. Serious, disciplined, and graceful with a piercing stare. Must convincingly perform karate moves and dance. Can be played by young adult.

BIG CHIEF LIKE THE CHEESE A LOT-  Rat, leader of the Do Dirty Gang. Male.  Physically imposing, he appears to be a callous bully. Is in cahoots with Marvin to terrorize the town but changes sides when he is double-crossed. His change of heart shows a softer side and a willingness to work for the cause of good.  Can be played by teen to young adult who can sing, dance, and rap.

THE DO DIRTY GANG- rats.  Followers of Big Chief. Can be played by males or females of any age who sing and dance.

LAVERN-  Talking Lamp post. Female.  Keeps up with all of the latest gossip. Opinionated and does not hold her tongue.  Unafraid to state her opinions and shrinks to no one.  Can be played by teen, young or older adult.

J. P. SNOOPER-  Puppy Dog, and news reporter for the Tweakberry Times. Male or Female. He or she is very conscientious about doing excellent reporting work. Ambitiously seeks the great story that will catapult him/her to a Pulitzer prize for journalism. Can be played by teen to young adult.

TOWNS PEOPLE  Can be played by teen to adult males or females who sing and dance.

CHILDREN  Can be played by male or female young children who sing and dance.
