Costume & Props
This class will meet in person on Monday’s from 6:30-7:30. In this class, students will learn a variety of skills needed to participate in the design and production of costumes and props for musical theatre and other performance related numbers. Projects for this class will be based on the costumes and props needed for current and upcoming performances at WCT. In any given session, students may be learning how to sew buttons onto soldier jackets for the Durham Nutcracker, make rat masks for Indigo blue, craft oversize blocks for Matilda, design a banner for the Newsies, sew play clothes for the Von Trapp family children and so much more! |
In addition to the physical creation of costumes and props, students will participate in strategy sessions led by Ms. Sarah, where students will use critical thinking skills, creativity and attention to detail to come up with designs that work best for the stage.
This is a hands-on class where students will have the opportunity to be a part of the start-finish process of designing and producing costumes and props, using their creative minds and their own two hands! The fun doesn't stop there - students are then able to see their ideas and creations come to life on the stage at WCT’s productions and performances for years to come! |
