One of the most explosive movie musicals in recent memory bursts onto the live stage with exhilarating results. When Ren and his mother move from Chicago to a small farming town, he is prepared for the inevitable adjustment period at his new high school. What he isn’t prepared for are the rigorous local edicts, including a ban on dancing instituted by the local preacher, determined to exercise the control over the town’s youth that he cannot command in his own home. When the reverend’s rebellious daughter sets her sights on Ren, her roughneck boyfriend tries to sabotage Ren’s reputation, with many of the locals eager to believe the worst about the new kid. The heartfelt story that emerges is of a father longing for the son he lost and of a young man aching for the father who walked out on him. To the rockin’ rhythm of its Oscar and Tony-nominated Top 40 score (the soundtrack album reached number one on the Billboard charts and has sold over 17 million copies!) and augmented with dynamic new songs for the stage musical, Footloose celebrates the wisdom of listening to young people, guiding them with a warm heart and an open mind.

a MUSICAL re-imagined production of Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker!

This hometown holiday favorite combines the best of both worlds: the iconic spectacle of Tchaikovsky’s ballet with an engaging story of a young dancer pursuing a dream in the face of contemporary — and relatable — challenges.

In addition to the traditional journeys of Clara and the nutcracker prince through the lands of snow and sweets, WCT’s “The Durham Nutcracker”, boasting a highly diverse cast, tells the behind-the scenes story of Sara Love, a young dancer facing challenges both in and out of the dance studio.  Our story follows Sara, the other students and their parents as the kids audition for the Nutcracker Ballet and shows not only the importance of facing your fears and striving for what you want, but that perseverance and courage are equally important as talent.  It emphasizes the importance of family during a traditional family-centered time of year.

Greater Durham Black History Month Talent Showcase
“African Americans and the Arts”
WCT celebrates the many impacts Black Americans have had on music, movements, and more. . .

In 2024, Walltown presented it's first Community Showcase in commemoration of Black History Month.  African American artists — poets, writers, visual artists, and dancers — have historically served as change agents through their crafts.  Our showcase is an opportunity to highlight the achievements of not only these artists, but of other notable African Americans in an artistic way.

Each year we open our doors to area artists and schools to celebrate the achievements of African Americans through each performer's unique use of dance, drama, spoken word, poetry, music, singing, and visual arts!!  You won't want to hear about what you've missed - you need to make sure you are a part of the festivities.  So sign up to participate in the show - or - make sure you are in the audience.  Either way - BE THERE!!

26th Annual Spring Showcase:
A Celebration of Growth and Artistry

At Walltown, we believe strong foundations are the key to artistic excellence. Throughout the Fall, our students focus on building core skills across dance, drama, and music. In the Spring, those foundations come to life as students shift into rehearsals—applying what they’ve learned in preparation for the stage.
Our Annual Spring Showcase is a joyful culmination of that journey. Every student participates, whether stepping into the spotlight for the very first time or deepening their performance experience. It’s a moment to shine, to grow, and to create lasting memories.
This event is also a celebration for the families and communities who uplift our young artists all year long. Parents, siblings, and neighbors come together to witness their students’ accomplishments, cheer them on, and share in the magic of live performance.
