MISSION STATEMENT
Walltown Children’s Theatre is an organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of young people in Durham through the arts. Creative expression, innovative programming, and building character in all children is at the core of WCT. Every child has a special light that can shine and the ability to succeed. WCT is a professional arts organization focused on inspiring hope and creativity for all children throughout our city.

DIRECTOR
Cynthia Penn - Established choreographer and dance teacher with more than 15 years of experience in jazz, modern dance, classical ballet and musical theatre. Received awards from the Kennedy Center and the Jacques d’Amboise National Dance Institute, where she currently works. Danced with such major companies as The Joffrey Ballet, Agnes de Mille Heritage Dance Theatre, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre and Bella Lewitzky. In Venezuela, was resident choreographer for Radio Caracas TV and the founder/director of the Jazz Center of Caracas. Taught and choreographed in Japan, France, Switzerland and Morocco. Degree in modern dance from the North Carolina School of the Arts.
Congratulations to Ms. Penn on receiving the 2011 Kathryn H. Wallace Award for artists in community service through the Triangle Community Foundation. In nominating Ms. Wanona Satcher wrote: "So many children and families have benefited from Cynthia's commitment. She is a mother to many students as she's established relationships with most of her kids from the time they were babies to young adults...Her method of teaching evokes creativity and loyalty in her students and teachers."
