BACKGROUND
Durham residents Joseph Henderson and Cynthia Penn founded Walltown Children's Theatre to serve as a "Door of hope and place of opportunity for all children".

DIRECTORS

Joseph Henderson - Joseph Henderson's work with children and theatre has been featured at the Kennedy Center, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Studio Theatre, Saint Louis Black Rep., on CNN News, Public Radio, National Black Theatre Festival, and in many magazines and newspaper articles. His plays for children include, In Our Time, Bangin' , Math Quest, El Libro Rojo, Flakes, and Waiting for Martin.

Cynthia Penn - Former Alvin Ailey dancer whose choreography has been at the Kennedy Center and on National television. Ms. Penn also teaches modern dance as a member of the drama faculty at the University of North Carolina School of Arts (UNCSA). She was also assistant director of the revival of WEST SIDE STORY for the UNCSA 40th anniversary celebration.
