In 2016, our family created a guitar scholarship at Walltown Children’s Theatre in memory of our son, brother, and uncle Sam Sporn who passed away in 2015.  Since Sam had been a student, volunteer, and friend of Walltown Children’s Theatre and played the guitar himself, we loved the idea of offering tuition-free guitar lessons to WCT students. For seven years, the Sam Sporn guitar scholarships have enabled students to learn to play the guitar, gaining confidence and a love of music extending well past their years at Walltown.  A highlight for Walltown this year is one of our inaugural Sam Sporn scholarship students, Ximena Gomez Arceo, first learned to play the guitar at WCT was awarded full music scholarship to Boston University.

And here, we would like to introduce you to three current guitar scholarship students Olivia, Nathanael, and Jahmal who share what they have learned.

We have been able to offer these scholarships through the generous donations of friends and family. In honor of Sam’s birthday on December 8, please consider helping us continue bringing music and joy to new and returning guitar students in the years to come. You can make your tax-free contribution by clicking below.

Thank you for your thoughtfulness in continuing to enrich students’ lives through the gift of learning to play the guitar.

If you would like to help ensure access for a child or youth to attend classes at WCT, please donate here and have your contribution earmarked for "tuition assistance".  Contributions cannot be earmarked for a specific student, unless that student has applied and qualified for scholarship or tuition assistance.  If the student does not qualify for assistance, your contribution will not be tax deductible.
WCT welcomes stock donations and has a brokerage account setup for easy transfer of shares!
