Please note that we are using ZEFFY, a totally FREE donation platform serving thousands of non-profit needs. In order to cover their costs, ZEFFY solicits donations from all patrons.  While we do hope that many also choose to contribute to the platform to ensure they can continue to serve non-profits for free, this is NOT a requirement.  The suggested donation appears just prior to checkout and defaults to a percentage of your gift.  You can choose to donate an alternate amount, or delete the optional donation altogether.  This will NOT affect your contribution to WDC.

STABILITY

The hardest costs to cover with grant funding are the most critical to the foundation of Walltown’s operations.

These unavoidable expenses — utilities, insurances, maintenance and administration, etc. — secure and support the overarching structures within which our exemplary programming is achieved.

Scholarships &
Tuition Assistance

OPPORTUNITY

At WCT, we believe that every youth has the ability to succeed when given the opportunities and support to do so.

We make it our business to ensure children and youth with demonstrated need and/or merit can access our programs by providing full or partial scholarship funding.

GROWTH

Owning our building requires ongoing commitment to upkeep of the grounds and facilities.  Funds are needed not only for maintenance and repairs, but also for improvements to match our expanding needs.

Paving our lot, renovations and equipment installation in our music studio, electricity and lighting upgrades in the Black Box Theater, roof & awning repairs, landscaping... the list goes on!

In 2016, our family created a guitar scholarship at Walltown Children’s Theatre in memory of our son, brother, and uncle Sam Sporn who passed away in 2015. Since Sam had been a student, volunteer, and friend of Walltown Children’s Theatre and played the guitar himself, we loved the idea of offering tuition-free guitar lessons to WCT students. For seven years, the Sam Sporn guitar scholarships have enabled students to learn to play the guitar, gaining confidence and a love of music extending well past their years at Walltown.

Last year, we told you about one or our guitar scholarship recipients, Ximena Gomez Arceo.  Now a sophomore at Boston University, she reflects on her time at Walltown Children’s Theatre:

“Having had the chance to grow up in the Walltown community, looking back now, I can’t picture my life without its influence. From watching my sisters and cousins dance, to attending summer camps, to learning to play guitar, it allowed me to explore my artistic creativity and explore a world beyond math and English classes. Thanks to the Sam Sporn scholarship, I was able to learn how to play guitar (which I have wanted to do my whole life) in a fun, inclusive learning environment. Being able to attend these lessons only further built my passion and love for music. Now, as a sophomore at Boston University studying music education, I can’t help but to feel gratitude for having had that opportunity.”

We have been able to offer these scholarships through the generous donations of friends and family. In honor of Sam’s birthday’s December birthday month, please consider helping us continue bringing music and joy to new and returning guitar students in the years to come. You can make your tax-free contribution by clicking on the link below.

Currently, all donations managed through Paypal Giving Fund go to a general Walltown Children's Theatre account so that no banking fees are collected. To ensure your contribution is earmarked for the Sam Sporn Guitar Scholarship Fund, please send a short email to [email protected] stipulating that your donation be used for this purpose

Thank you for your thoughtfulness in continuing to enrich students’ lives through the gift of learning to play the guitar.
ROB JIGGETTS MUSIC STUDIO (RJMS) BUILDING PROJECT FUNDS
Several years ago, WTown began the process of re-purposing our smaller building into a full studio space to enhance, and greatly expand our music program, and further compliment our Theatre lighting and film production initiatives.  In addition to structural construction items, we need to move some walls to create separate rehearsal, recording and control spaces, and purchase adequate sound barriers, instruments, amplifiers, cabling, and sound equipment.  The space has already been renamed the “Rob Jiggetts Music Studio (RJMS)” by our kids in honor of a beloved WTown percussion teacher who passed away in April of 2017.

Our RJMS project was jump-started with a $16,500 grant from the Harry L. and Helen M. Rust Charitable Trust, which we used to make structural repairs to the building and roof, and to begin outfitting the space with furniture and equipment for piano, drum, and guitar lessons.  We have much more to cover in the preparation for a recording space.  Your contributions earmarked to RJMS will assist us in completing the rehab of this addition to our school, a space that nurtures the development of student-driven music and media from writing or composing, and structuring, to recording, podcasting, performing and providing sound reinforcement for others that are performing.  Funds raised in excess of rehab costs will be earmarked for music student scholarships and ongoing equipment needs.
