Walltown Summer Camps 2026

Walltown Summer Camps invite young creatives aged 3-16 years to explore the performing arts through exciting theme-based instruction in a professional black box setting.  Our weeklong day camps provide fun opportunities for young artists to explore dance, acting, singing, costuming and set creation in a cohesive and collaborative environment that encourages personal expression and creativity.  Each week, we open our doors to family and friends for an exciting production by the camp students showing off what they have learned.  This gives our campers a unique opportunity to perform in a professional setting and spark their enthusiasm to continue pursuit of the performing arts!
Explorer Mini-Camps - ages "mature 3" to "young 5" ~ $165
Monday - Friday, 9am - 12pm daily 


Explorer/Performer in Training (PIT) Camps: - ages 5-16 (vary/camp) ~ $330
Monday - Friday, 9am - 3pm daily

Staff will be available to receive students by 8:40am on camp days.
Explorer campers should be picked up no later than 12:30.  PIT campers should be picked up no later than 3:30pm.  Please bring your students to the door to check them in.  You must also come to the door to check them out at the end of the camp day.

Make sure your Camper is Prepared for the Week
Helpful tips on what to bring, what to leave at home, and how to set your camper up for success.

FOOD ~ We partner with the Food Service Program at the Food Bank to provide hot lunch and additionally provide snacks for our campers.  We have limited ability to service specialized diets.  If your child is a finicky eater or has dietary restrictions, you may consider sending lunch and/or snacks that they can/will eat.

WATER ~ We try to make sure all campers stay hydrated throughout the day.  Please provide a water bottle  with your camper's name written on it (we have a bottle filler)

ATTIRE ~ Our campers are active throughout the day.  Please have them wear comfortable clothes to move around in and play in

ELECTRONICS ~ Our camp day is structured for interactive learning and creative play.  Please DO NOT allow your campers to bring electronic devices to camp.  Use of cell phones and other devices i
s not permitted during camp hours. Any devices that a student brings to camp must remain in their backpack for the duration of the camp day

Camp Performances
When Campers Shine and Families Cheer
Details on end-of-week showcases and how to support your young performer.
Vertical Divider
Each week on the last day of camp, families are invited to a mini-presentation showcasing what the campers worked on that week.  Pre-Explorer presentations begin at 11:30 on Wednesdays and regular camp performances begin at 2pm on Fridays.  Shows last 30 -90 minutes depending on the camp.

WEEK 2 (June 22-26) 100 Acre Wood

Creative drama camp (ages 3–5) — Companion to "Into the Woods" Camp
Little ones step into the gentle, whimsical world of the 100 Acre Wood through imaginative play, movement, and storytelling. Campers explore friendship and feelings with beloved animal characters while creating simple costumes and playful scenes. This nurturing camp builds confidence, cooperation, and joy on stage in a developmentally perfect way for our youngest performers.

23 year old Durham native, Artemisa started learning to dance at Walltown when she was 3.  A dance as her primary passion, Arte also sang in Walltown productions Indigo Blue and The Durham Nutcracker.  With demonstrated skill and a natural leadership quality, Arte was tapped to teach ballet and tap  during the school year, and worked summer camps both during high school and for several years afterward.

​Arte loves the tug of excitement and fulfillment she found teaching children and is looking forward to working with our youngest stars this Summer.

​Imaginative play & movement camp (ages 3–5)
Inspired by the playful world of Bluey, this camp celebrates creativity, family, and fun through games, pretend play, music, and movement. Campers build short scenes from everyday adventures while exploring costumes and simple props. Perfect for first-time campers, this class focuses on confidence, cooperation, and joyful expression.

Older campers explore the darker, deeper side of fairy tales through scenes, songs, and character-driven storytelling inspired by Into the Woods. This camp focuses on ensemble work, vocal performance, and acting choices as students examine what happens after “happily ever after.” With rich characters and layered stories, performers build a thoughtful, dramatic showcase full of humor, heart, and growth.

Shakespeare’s Hamlet (Jr.)
Classical theatre performance camp (ages 10+)
Campers take on one of Shakespeare’s most famous stories in this exciting introduction to classical theatre. Using a youth-friendly Hamlet (Jr.) script, students explore powerful characters, dramatic scenes, and ensemble storytelling while building strong acting skills. Along the way, campers may also learn about Shakespeare’s life — including the story of his son Hamnet — to better understand how personal experience can shape great art. The week culminates in a fully staged performance of Shakespeare’s Hamlet that highlights voice, movement, and confident storytelling.
